The past few weeks were hectic here at the Valhalla Homestead. Our lease was only until the 29th of June so we needed to wrap up the house renovation as quickly as possible and move all our stuff from the old apartment we used to rent. Hence the reason why I didn’t have the time to update you all on our progress.
Although we carefully planned our house renovation and moving schedules there were a few unexpected delays. We ended up working long hours and stripped of any free time. So we ended up spending our two weeks of “vacation” among piles of rubble, dust and concrete.
When we first got here at Vechea we already knew that there was a lot of work ahead of us. The old house is structurally sound as far as we know. But it was far away from what we would consider nice and comfortable. One of the first things we had to tackle was getting rid of the old stuff that was left behind.
The old house was built 50 years ago and I bet that the furniture inside is just as old. The floors were covered with old dirty rugs that smelled like mildew. Also, nobody lived inside the house for the past 18 years so the air inside smelled bad and stale.
Today I want to give you more details about where we are, here at the Valhalla Homestead. So if you’re just getting to know us and you want to figure out what’s our story setting, read on.
As I told you before, Greti and I are the proud owners of a beautiful countryside property we purchased at the beginning of 2018. After we figured out that we were not excited at all for the hustle and bustle of the city life and that what we really wanted was a better, more peaceful and healthier lifestyle we decided to buy a land nearby Cluj. That’s how we got to Vechea and started our homestead adventure.
Hi there! Welcome to our blog, we are Greti & Vlad. We like to think of ourselves as the only two humans who are “Lost in the Valhalla Homestead“. But in all honesty, we’re just a normal couple that was lucky enough to be able to buy a piece of land to call their own.
I’m not going to dive too deep into our biography, I’ll let you follow along in our story and make your own opinion about our personality, but there are a few basic details that I want to get out of the way.
Skol! That’s Viking for ‘hi’, but I think it has a little bit more… oomph! What I mean is: Welcome to our blog – Lost in Valhalla!
Let’s get over the introductions first: my name is Vlad, my girlfriend’s name is Greti and together we’re the proud owners of the Lost in Valhalla Homestead.
Hello and welcome!
We (Vlad & Greti) are building a home on a homestead in a rural area of Romania in Western Europe and sharing our story as two passionate gardeners who ditched the city for a simpler, better life.
